If searching on Zillow, you will need to do multiple "key word" searches. If you want a phrase, make sure you put it in quotes, for example "single story", or "one story". Remember to also try words like "ranch", or "rambler", or "bungalow", or "wheelchair". There is no "OR" operator for the keyword search, so they will need to be separate searches. But you can save each, and can set a name for each to be able to tell which words are used more often in the agents' description copy for your area.
If you really wanted to, you could use a Google Advanced search limiting the search domain to
http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/
As that would allow you to use Boolean logic. But then you don't get the map. You would need to limit the range of search by including a city and state name, or by including a zip-code.

I agree with my fellow agents. You will want to find a buyer's agent to work with you. It's important to select an agent you feel comfortable with and who can provide the best service. If you are looking for ramblers there won't be an assn fee because they are single family. I can get you set up on a MLS search that can only be done through Realtors, but it will be the best since it is where all the listings come from.

Zillow doesnt have that info nor most info a MLS would, contact a LOCAL Realtor near you.

My best advice is to find a qualified agent on Zillow (reviews are available) and ask that agent to sign you up for a search directly in their MLS (Multiple Listing Service). Within the MLS, the agent can customize things like number of living levels, or a style of home (such as a ranch).
If you are concerned about paying a buyer's agent, it's important to note that most buyer's agents are paid out of the commission split offered by the seller's agent in MLS, so the money usually does not come out of your pocket and you still have a professional to negotiate on your behalf.
