Tough to say exactly how to correct this. In many instances, the tax information is "auto-populated" from sources within the MLS (multi list system) your Realtor utilizes. If there is an error in the source data-base, it may be a little difficult to correct. If the taxes are over stated, it can deter potential buyers and hurt your chances of selling the property. If this is the result of such an error, your agent may be able to manually input the correct data, but then again, he or she may not be permitted to manually overide the inaccurate information. While this has not come up for me personally as an agent, I have had errors occur from data base sources and with a few calls was able to get someone to correct the situation at the MLS level. As my kids know, sometimes it requires repeated requests to get someting accomplished. "Persistence wears resistance" Git er done....
