how do I find out if the house i rent is in forclosure?

I have been renting a house in Anaheim Hills, Ca. Have recently found out house is in default (not by the owner being forthright) I asked the owner about this and he admitted to having applied for a loan mod. and would keep me posted. Do I keep paying the rent on a home that may be in forclosure at this point? I am a single Mom with children and do not want to be homeless.  Please help

If you post the addresss the Realtors and Agents can tell you by doing a search of tax records where these are recorded.

You may be in a few stages if they aren't paying...
Notice of Default - Foreclosure and Auction...or the worst is Auction complete and someone will be coming to formally evict you...they may try to negotiate either "keys for cash" or a new term if its sold to an investor, but that is slim....

each is different, you need to search public records to find out.

Relative to paying rent, you need to consult an Attorney - that is very specific in the way you need to perform relative to payments of rent or non payments, I'm not 100% sure.  You may also try the legal aid society down in Tustin.  They may be able to help.
