Your county courthouse records should show when the property was improved, these are public records, and may even be online now, many counties across the country have made them available online! If the shme is for sale, it should also be on the multiple listing sheet...Hope these comments helped!

Your county records are public and you will be amazed how much info you can get there simply by asking.

Hi floorman23,
Ana is correct, most counties in VA have searchable tax assessor sites. I see your location is listed as Poquoson. Click here to go to the Poquoson Tax Assessment site. Here, you can enter the address of the home about which you're inquiring. For this site, year built will be under the "Improvements" tab.
Hope this helps!

Just type your county name plus "tax assessor" into google. That should pull up your counties website. Look it up there.

Your local appraisal district will have the age some of the time.
Two sure fire ways.
1. Go to the bathroom and remove the lid off of the commode.
Look for the date of manufacturing. If the original commodes are in
place you will be within 6 months to a year of the original construction date.
2. If process 1 fails to yield accurate acceptable date, then head to your local library and ask to view a city directory. Pick the approximate age you would guess. If you find the address go back 5 or 10 years. Keep looking until your address does not show up. That year is the year your house was built or the next. Most city directories are consistent about adding houses, etc as they are built.
Good Luck!
