how do i find the builder of my home?

Our insurance group has told us to find the people that built our home because its there fault our roof is falling off. I have called the tax Assessors say there is nothing that they can do to help us find them. What now?

Tax records or the Gsccca website. Either will show the name of your builder most likely.

I would go to the office in the county/city that issues building permits.   It will have a record of who built the house as well as inspections performed.

I would call the tax assessor's office back and ask them who was the original owner.  Then start from there trying to contact the original owner.  Depending on the age of your home, you might contact the office that gives out building permits to see if they still have the original on file.  The contractor's name would have had to be listed on the initial permit.  If you have a neighbor who has been in the area a long time, they might know the original owner.  Hope this helps.
