Do you mean how do you increase the value? Or are you asking about the tax assessment? Do you want it to go up or down?
Increasing the value of your home requires updating the home or upgrading some of the features. Such as changing Formica counter tops to Corian or Granite, updating the bathrooms, kitchen, adding hardwood floors, etc. Making sure your home is in good condition and well maintained helps to increase the value. Landscaping to add curb appeal can increase the value and decrease the time to sell your property if you are considering selling. Changing the assessed value of your home can be difficult. If you contact your local property tax office, you may ask how to challenge an assessment if you feel yours is unreasonable. The assessed value makes no difference to market value or appraised value, assessed value is only the amount you pay property taxes on.
