I have found that referrals/word of mouth, and an old fasioned face to face meeting are usually about the most telling. Some people go by what schools the attorney has graduated from, or what accolades she has to her name. I've also seen that a record of State Bar discipline is something that many people judge an Attorney by.

Check his track record for similar cases. Or go and watch him in action at the courthouse. There is really no way of guaging that information without the use of other's opinions that have used him and similar references. Also, check the state BAR website for his stats. Good luck!!
