If you get a qualified soil technician or civil engineer to evaluate the soil compaction, and cause of the hole (tree roots decaying, underground stream...), they can recommend solutions and a contractor can guarantee their work for a period of years.  (It does cost extra for extended warranties).

If in an open area, excavation and re-compaction is typical.  If under a house, pumping grout is often the method used.

Ipps tips
Lets assume your talking about a small sink hole in your yard.
To make a long story short on how they got there in the first place, most likely they were a bury hole at one time that is decaying and causing the top layer of dirt to cave in. You can fill them in and try to compact new materials brought in but you can be assured they will probably return.

You can replace the drains and baskets, don't know about repairing the hole itself.
You may need to give some more information on what you are referring to.
