how is distance calculated from one property to another ? I dont see a way to calculate distance.

Use the Mapquest.com to find the distance between the houses per road map and if you want to find the distance of the straight line then the function is SquareRoot( dx * dx + dy *dy) (d stands for the distance) of course you had to know the latitude and the longitude of those properties.
