There are different types of listings, and if your listing is not exclusive to the broker, then the agent is required to input your listing information into the MLS database within 3 days after you sign the listing agreement.  This assumes that your agent is affiliated with a local Realtor association.

The MLS database serving the Danville area makes this available to other agents immediately.  If you listing information is to be syndicated to Zillow and other web sites, your agent needs to provide that instruction to the MLS system.  Some web sites will get this information immediately, but most web sites offer guidelines indicating it may take up to 48 hours for a listing to be included in their database.  In practice, most web sites get the information within 2 hours.

Some web sites do not automatically display syndicated listing information so your agent needs to make those arrangements separately.

How long it takes for updates to roll out across different web sites is a different story.  That's what causes inaccuracies in information for many sites.  Just ask me if you want more details on that one.

If you post a home for sale with an agent, you should ask the agent that question plus whether or not they put it on non-MLS websites like Zillow as part of their advertising strategy.   If you post it directly on Zillow as a FSBO, it should appear within a few hours.
