Land square feet is normally locally determined with a city lot by multiplying the street frontage by the length of the lot.  For example, if a lot has 50 feet of street frontage and is 135 feet deep, then the lot would have 6,750 square feet (50x135=6,750).  Additonally because there is 43,560 square feet in 1 acre, this would mean that this lot as an example would be equal to 0.15 of an acre.  (6750/43560 = .1549)
