Ms. Norton has some great insights into the KC real estate market. For a glimpse, take a look at http://activerain.com/blogs/mariamorton. I read her blog to see what is going on in KC on the West side of the state.

In 2002 this property sold for $103,400. If it sold again in 2007, it was not through a licensed agent. If it was sold by owner, it should have been recorded with the county recorder. You can call, or visit, the recorder in person to find out the price. All active, licensed agents use the Heartland Multiple Listing Service to keep all informed of properties for sale, sold, pending, and any other status changes. Prior to the formation of the MLS, you had to go to the recorder to find out. Today, any property changing ownership without realtor involvement should be recorded but is sometimes not which may present problems when the new owners go to sell. The cloud on the title will have to be cleared by a title company; or the present owners may elect to go down to the recorder and deal with the problem in person.
