I have seen it as high as $1200 in Laguna Woods.  Most are $400-675.  I had a client last year who wanted to looked at a condo that was about 100K and it had HOA over $1000 per month.  When I advised him of the HOA before we would view the home, he almost fainted...

Your HOA  can vary depending on what amenities that come with the property. Southern Indiana HOA's vary from $35 yearly up to $200 monthly. Some only cover the entrance of the development and other include a trash, water, outside maintenance, pool. Ask a local realtor and they can tell you everything you need to know about any property.

HOA dues depend on the location of the building, the building itself and the amenities you get (insurance, common area maintenance, gym/pool facilities...).  A local real estate agent should be able to look that up for you providing you give them the address of the complex....

Your question did not reference a property. Let us know which property you are interested in and someone will find out the HOA for that property.

Each association has their diffferent dues , this should be published in the MLS and the seller/realtor should be able to  tell you. If not you can always call the association involved. Don't forget to request a copy of the last assoication compliance inspection and make sure the home is not in violation of any rules. as the new owner you will be responsible to comply even if the violation existed when uyou purchased.

Interesting question... and funny too.

You should have a Realtor if you don't - and the question says you don't.  Every HOA determines its own dues and payment schedule.

Some (that do nothing) are voluntary.

Some are quite expensive $400 -$600 per MONTH

Most are reasonable and cover such things as COMMON area maintenance, lawn moving, outside pest control.

As the prices get higher, the ammenities paid for get (generally) better. You may have Basic Cable, Pools, Exercise & Fitness areas, Covered parking, security, etc.

The HOA dues depend on the property you are looking at. On average, Laguna Woods HOA dues range from $500 to $600.
