Ask your Agent to recommend you a good and reasonable contractor. Small details in the design of your home can make a big difference in the price. The most expensive areas in a home are usually the bathrooms and the kitchen.

Get a few estimates from a contractor and take it from there.

You need to find a contractor to give you estimates for repairs. You might have to poay them $100 or so, but it would be worth it. Your agent should be able to give you an approximate value for the repairs however statistacly you rarely get 100% return for updates that you do. You should get 100%, maybe more for the repairs needed to bring the property up to what is considered 'normal' condition.
Some repairs are superficial and some are necessary. Your agent should be able to tell you that.

The easiest way to find out the cost of repairs is to take a contractor or two by to get estimates.  And a good real estate agent should be able to assist with the valuation.

I see you've posted this question under "investing".

You can get two or three contractors to give you estimates for specific repairs.   You can get 2 or 3 agents to give you estimated market value for a fixed up home.

If you are asking because you are thinking about flipping homes, be aware that if you contract out all the repairs chances are good you'll spend more money than you gain in increased market value (especially when you take selling costs into consideration).     IF you have considerable construction skills as needed for the property in question and plan to do most of the work yourself, and financial ability to handle unknowns then jump right in.

You should contact at least 2-3 licensed contractors in your area to give you estimates of repair costs.  If you do not have a Realtor, you should contact a local one that will give you an estimate of your homes value both before and after repair work is done.  Hope this helps.
Good luck! Adele
