I don't think there's a site specifically that compares atty's fees for different . Most attys will give you a rate sheet upon request only since they charge the average consumer more than lenders/agents/builders who give them a steady stream of business. We charge $375 for atty fees, $200 for a full title search and title insurance (book rate, no upcharge) is $2.40-$2.60 per $1000 borrowed. We also travel to the borrower's home or place of work for refinance at a time that is convenient for the borrower. Hope this helps.

There is a great link on Zillow.

You will be amazed. I recommend dealing with a closing attorney that the lender has experience with and is familiar with the new HUD regulations.

Our closing attorney only charges $295.00 as a flat fee and that includes everything (closing fee, title exam, binder, overnight fees, etc) except the title insurance. Request a full quote with all fees from the mortgage companies and then take the one with the best overall deal. Most mortgage companies have pricing worked out with the closing attorneys they use at fees lower than ones available to the general public.

pathkid, typical fees for a refi are $350 Atty Fee, $125 Title Exam/Search, and standard lender's title insurance which is now regulated. What are you being quoted and loan amt?
Your best bet is to do business with a lender that has relationships set up with attorneys or title companies. Many lenders on here that work for large companies get discounts because of the volume of business they bring. Others may just have a great source to go to.Since lenders now have to be accurate in quoting title fees as well simply get quotes for this while you are shopping rates, keeping in mind neither is binding until you receive a good faith.

Where is Clay? GA is his state and he might have some referrals for you. What I would suggest is to call around. Try to get someone who does mostly RE work. Ask what their fee is and more importantly what that covers. There are several aspects to attoney fees. If attorneys close loans in GA, I would anticipate a fee for the following items: Attorney Closing, Plot Plan, Title Search, Recording, and Title Insurance (owner and lenders-not needed for refi). Dont take this as gospel as each state has their own customs on what is needed and who performs the service.

how to shop for cheapest closing lawyer?
BUT, how do I shop around for best lawyer fees? Is there a good comparison website, like a zillow mortgage for lawyers? I seen 3rd party lawyer fees range over $1000.
