First the place you do banking is a good place. The already know a lot about you.
Second place, ask for referrals with your coworkers. People like to talk about Mortgage Consultants and Realtors.
Don't be afraid to ask! One technique I learn from a Contractor friend is to look for an old yellow pages book, let's say 5 years. Look for Mortgage Consultants, if the phone number is still working, he could be a good one.
Also, look for First Time Home buyers classes in your area...and take them!
