You need to contact your lender right away.  They should be willing to assist you in trying to keep you from foreclosure.  Don't wait, call them as soon as possible.

If you just lost your job and are going to file for a modification the servicer will use your unemployment income.  Don't wait as the servicer needs to see many months of unemployment left to be able to use it.  I see people trying to file for a mod after they have already received 10 months of unemploment and it makes it tough as lenders won't take it then.
