i was requested to 'rate my realtor'; i want to be honest, but will he find out?

we changed realtors, and would like to give an honest reason as to why, but, i wouldn't want him to be able to trace the comments back to me.  i do want to warn future clients so they don't go thru what we went thru.

"Keep in mind that we are all human and make mistakes/ get overloaded sometimes and some things are better off left not being said."  One of the aspects of being a professional is showing professional behavior in all interactions.  None of us are perfect, but an agent is getting paid a heck of a lot in a sales transaction so there is no excuse for poor performance.

"Agents are 100% commission, so though you may have had a rough experience, it could be very harmful to his/her career to post a public review on a site such a Zillow"
Woah!  Last I checked the review process is so that other consumers can get a idea of the performance of the professional being reviewed.  This is not a "be nice, it might hurt their income", it is "be honest, so other consumers are forewarned and can make an intelligent choice for their representation".

"They will see your review, but if you are being honest they should take it as constructive criticism and improve their business practices."

I really wish it worked that way, but that is only the way the good agents look at constructive criticism.

Bad agents look at it completely differently. They commonly call their reviewers, threaten lawsuits and bully their client until the honest if non favorable review is removed. While it is true a bad review may hurt an agents' business, perhaps that's what should happen if the agent did bad job and is unapologetic.

Is this for a review on Zillow or a review requested by the agents brokerage?   If Zillow, be sure to avoid comments or specific circumstances that the agent will be able to relate to your experience.

Hope my input was helpful and you are enjoying your new home!!

He won't find out if you do not use details that he will recognize, don't use your real name and shift your timeframe for purchase/sale just a little bit. If he does call you out, deny everything and tell him how you felt about your experience with him. If he seems put out, tell him it makes you feel like leaving him an honest review of your own.

Telling the truth to help others is great, but being pressured or threatened to remove an honest review about a so so or bad agent is not so great. Use a different name.

Honesty is the best policy. Sometimes constructive criticism will really help and not hurt the person.

As others have stated, most likley they know that you were not satisfied and would be able to connect the dots back to you on the review. I wouldnt be too concerned, hopefully this would help others as you mentioned and make this Realtor better in the long run.

Yes, they will see the review. It's nice that you are concerned about their feelings, maybe email them privately and let them know how they disappointed you with his/her service.
We can never grow as individuals if we don't understand what we did.
If you think this is how they usually conduct their business, then maybe it's time others should know too??
I'm sure you make the choice that you are most comfortable with.
Good luck!

Feedback is critical. I would want to know. Complacency is not good. I think you will be doing everyone a big favor in the long run. We can't fix something if we don't know it's broken. You concern for their feelings is admirable.

Yes, the Realtor can probably figure out who wrote the review but why are you worried about someone who apparently did a poor job?
