In Newport RI, go to the Assessor Online Database at:
http://data.visionappraisal.com/NewportRI/DEFAULT.asp
This has much of the public record data about all properties in Newport, including assessed value, previous owners and previous sales prices. Most recent information is included in online, but some of the older data may not have been entered into the database, so you may be able to get more historical information at city hall on Broadway.
Middletown and Portsmouth RI are also online at:
http://www.visionappraisal.com/databases/ri/index.htm
Feel free to contact me for more help on property values on Aquidneck Island!

I have to agree with Jennifer, ask a realtor! It is a simple question for us to answer and we can discuss the market values at the time of each sale.
Even easier than the other 2 answers. Most county records are now online. Google your county, Registry of Deeds. Should take you 10 minutes.

Definitely ask an agent for help. It will take them less than a minute to help you rather than having to wait in line at the county courthouse.

Contact your real estate agent and ask them for it.
You can also find a history of it at your local court house. It is public knowledge. Sometimes these are available online through the county assessors website, depending on how up-to-date the local government is.
