Contact a mortgage broker as Joe suggested.  They'll most likely have knowledge of reputable loan modification companies, that they've used in the past.

If you want to keep your home, time is of the essence and this is no time to procrastinate.  Face the issue head on, and get started tomorrow morning.

At the end of the day, it's only a home, and that's the important thing to keep in mind.  You have your health, I hope, and your family. That's what matters.  The rest is just icing on the cake.

Though, get started by contacting a mortgage broker so they can assist you with your specific case.  They'll know exactly where you stand, and if you don't like their answer contact another one, for a second opinion.

Best,

Eric

First - I am not a lawyer or an accountant.
That being said, you should first talk to your lender about doing a modification.  They are going to do everything they can not too, however, you must be persistant.  If that does not work, there are many companies that specialize in doing loan modifications on your behalf.  Beware, there are many scams in this arena right now.  See other zillow posts.
