I would start looking now Prices normally are better in the winter and interest rates are low, You also have less competition in the market now  You have more competition in spring and summer, Better odds of having to compete against multiple offers from other buyers I would say start looking now

They are half right. There is an increase in the number of homes on the market. There are also more buyers. Yes it will be warmer and you can get a better look at the roof, lawn, and lanscaping. However interest rates are going up. You may end up getting less home for the same payment. My advice put on your coat, boots and gloves and start looking.

In most parts of the country this is true, because people tend to move at the end of the school year.  This is not  true in Florida, well, that is, in a "normal" market.  More homes are sold in the winter season.  Our market now has had for the last few years a steady, huge inventory.  Great time to buy...!  I am starting to see our local home values starting to go up in our corner of  SW Florida.

In our area, Spring is the busiest season and can start as early as the end of February. It is true that more homes will come on the market. However, you will also have more competition from other people wanting to purchase a home. In our slower months (December, January, February) Sellers may be more motivated and willing to negotiate. Keep this in mind as you make your decision. The perfect home may be out there right now, or you may have to look for awhile until you find it. It's never too early to begin the process.

I would recommend to start looking and educating yourself about the market now. Right now interest rates are starting to creep up and there are very good deals on the market right now, probably the lowest prices and rates, we have ever seen. Who can foresee the future into the summer and predict what rates and prices will do? You may want to get yourself prepared to buy a house, talk with a mortgage broker and your Realtor. If you see a home that you like you may want to move on it, if not wait until you do, maybe until summer, but keep an eye on rates and prices.

I would suggest talking to and interviewing several agents in the area you want to buy a home. After you have found one you like go with their recommedations. It is never too early to start shopping for a new home. Take your time and start looking now. If the right home comes along at the right price you will know. If you do nothing from now until Spring/Summer time you may miss out on an opportunity.
