Recently, I've noticed some listings for sale for 50-60% of market value. The goal is to generate interest and multiple offers. The hope is that bidding will result in a better offer or at least an acceptable offer faster. Contact the listing agent/seller and ask some questions. I'd start with "are there any offers on the home?"

Sometimes properties are actually for rent and the price accidentally appears as a "for sale" price due to data coding issues in data feeds.
The best way to sort this out is to scroll to the very bottom of the property details page and click on "listing source". The listing source usually tells if it is actually for rent or for sale.

It could be that the house is for rent, it could mean that there is an auction going on with the house. If it is too good to be true, it probably is.
is the little red house symbol with "for sale "next to it the actually asking price of the house?
