land prices in Safford

our family has some land in Safford, by the prison, which has been almost worthless.  this year the tax bill has quadrupled.  any idea why ground by the prison has gone up in value?  or is it just taxes that have gone up so much?

Thanks for your answer.  Actually, taxes went up 800%!  Do you know if any growth is happening out by the prison?  I can't imagine homeowners taxes went up 800%.

Taxes have increased, however you can contest the property valuation at the beginning of the year. (The deadline was April 21st this year.) Simply go the county assessor's website and follow the link for residential property appeals.
