You could Contact Bart Pinkerton in the Keller Williams office in Springfield, MO. He is our inhouse lender and he has a program that can do a credit bump to possibly get you qualified. [edited by Zillow moderator to remove phone number]

It's not impossible for you to obtain financing, but will be very hard to find a lender to do both purchase and rehab with the 598, but with a little work you should be able to get your scores up to the 640 point that's needed by most lenders today. Hope this helps.

Hi kentswen1,
Getting a loan may not be as hard as you think. Don't bother with your local depository bank,...they don't do low scores. Find a reputable mortgage lender. Start here on this board.
The fixer upper will be the problem. I'm not sure you can get a fixer upper loan in combo with low scores.
By fixer upper do you mean a little paint and trim? Or do you mean the place is damaged?

In general in your situation; it is typically harder than in past years to get a loan with a lower score and with a history of bankruptcy... but there are many programs available for veterans and for other qualificaitons with home buying.. that it is worth contacting a local home loan lender to see what you need to do to qualify; you can start with your local bank and ask them for recommendations if they cannot help you.
good luck

I would talk to a local mortgage lender/banker in your area. Ask your friends, neighbors, co-workers etc if they've been involved in a real estate transaction lately and ask for referrals.
Good Luck!
