I am pretty sure the lender did not guarantee the value of the home...so if your issue is that it's not worth what you agreed to buy it for is your only issue they won't modify your loan.
If you are relocating you will need to approach the lender with a short sale. It will impact your credit however. Your only other option would be to bring the difference to the closing. Whatever you do do not go delinquent on the account because someone told you that you need to for the lender to take you seriously...That is BS and will only further Damage your credit.
