Clear your cache and try again.

Also right click one of the photos you are trying to upload, i bet it is large.
Resize to 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 and try again. (size to be under 1meg for quickest and best results)

Also a reboot want hurt anything.

Post again if more help is needed. In XP the resizer tool is what i use to make my photos smaller. Picasso provided by Google and Infranview will resize and more.
