paint colors can be matched at any paint department. (home depot, paint store etc. ) just take a small chip of paint in.

It's been my experience that the 'matched' paint never matches. So if you do use matched paint, use as little as possible to cover the area.

Wow, I must be a jerk or something becuase i would seriously just leave the nail holes in the wall. In your situation I would.
I recently covered my all up and painted over them (I saved the can of paint from the orginal color, white)
If anything, If I were in your situation I would leave the new owners a $25 gift card to Home Depot or Lowes and Nice thank you card saying it's for the nail holes.
Because you don't really know what they will want to do, Wall paper, Bright orange Walls, Ugly wood Paneling. And if the paint doesn't match well, it'll just bring a complaint. More so than a few nail holes. Heck maybe they will hang thier pictures in the same spots you had yours.
congrats on selling btw

If you can't find matching paint, consider leaving the picture hangers!

This is a question I've always had, too. If it helps, the last two homes we moved into, the nail holes (and even the nails, screws, etc.) were left in the wall. We were able to hang pictures and things in almost the same places so it really didn't make a difference, although we did have to spackle and repair where there was some larger wall anchors. The sellers left cans of touch up paint, but it doesn't really ever match right, unless you want to paint the entire wall again. It will do for now. We will end up painting again some day, but really, you can't even notice once you have all your decorating done.
When we vacated our last home in December, we did not repair the nail holes but at least we removed all the nails. You just have no idea if the new owners would want to paint, wallpaper, etc. I think if you leave the place nice and clean, nail holes are not to be worried about.

Yes, I'm all about America. I want to treat my fellow American the way I want to be treated. Unfourtanyly the tide has turned and it has turned into how can I screw this person for what will better me. I will continue looking to be honest and trustworthy as I was raised by two people who have alike opinions.

nail holes
I've sold my first house and I'm preparing to move out. My question is what should I do about the nail holes and some screw holes where heavier things hung. I can spackle them but I do not have the matching paint to cover the spackle. I do not know what is the proper way to leave the house for the buyer. If anyone could lead me on the right path it would be greatly appreciated.
