If you need the appraisal for legal purposes you should hire a licensed appraiser. If your need is to sell your home then a local realtor will meet with you, evaluate your property, then research the MLS to give you a Comparative Market Analysis. The realtor will include your home's special features and compare it to other homes that have sold in your area to determine an asking price for you.

Hire an appraiser to do a valid appraisal with a fee from $250 - $400, there is no bank or any financial institution approved a Zestimate or a CMA.

Hi Noreen, you can call a local real estate agent and ask for a free comparative market analysis or CMA. Your other option would be to hire an independent real estate appraiser. It really depends on what your reason for the estimate is. You might decide to do both.
