Because most sewer lines are running along the street most homes are connected through the front yard.

Rotor rooter or most larger plumbing companies can open lines even if they have been invaded by tree roots.  Not usually a big deal.

We did not get the whole question?   Common for sewer lines to run from front of house to street.   You may have to blade tree roots now and then and after about 40 years or so not uncommon to replace the old black iron pipe with PVC.
