preforclosure information

I just found a home in North Plains, OR on NW Pumpkin Ridge road that is in preforclosure. Aside from paying for a forclosure.com account, how can I find out more aabout this home, including making an offer on it?

By pre-foreclosure, I'm assuming you mean it's received a notice of default, right? Do you know when it's going to public sale? How did you find out about it, and can that source provide more information?

How do you know the owner wants to sell? Maybe they're trying to get a loan modification, or maybe they're working with someone to do a short sale.

If you're reluctant to contact a real estate broker to get answers, try foreclosure radar.com or realtytrac.com. They're both paid sites, but have a free trial period.

All the good free sites for foreclosures, like Yahoo, quit doing it for free a long time ago. Also--I justthought of this--Redfin's property search engine will have some good data. You might try that.

Good luck.

The best way to stay on top of foreclosures in your area is with a good agent who is on top of the foreclosures. Houses that are in "preforeclosure" are not for sale, so one can't make an offer.      Foreclosure.com is, IMHO, pushing the limits unpleasantly.
