standard commission rate

What is the standard sales commission rate? Is it 6% of the entire selling price? I know that it can be negotiable, but I'd like to know what the rate is.

Contact a half dozen or more brokerages (companies) in your area and ask them. It's the only way to find out. Be prepared to negotiate from there. For the record, I have never heard of any "maximum allowed" anywhere. You can pay an agent any amount you agree to pay them.  There are some states that prohibit "net" commissions and others that permit them.

There is no maximum rate either. An agent is certainly able to charge and receive over 6%.

There is no  minimum standard commission rate. The maximum you can give an agent is 6% of the sales price.
The  recommended rate for buyers agent would be 2.5% or 3%.
The sellers agent commission depends on the rate agreed between seller and his agent.
