We purchased the home in 9/07 for $256,000, at 1807 Split Fork Dr. Oldsmar,Fl. 34677. We proceeded to have a new kitchen (Granite counter tops, Wood cabinets etc.) with all new stainless appliances installed, added wood floors throughout the house, had the on suite bath completely remodeled with(marble floors/granite tops/soaking tup/glass enclosed shower), added a new high energy(Trane)  air conditioner/ heat pump and added new sod and sprinkler system to the yard.  Our cost cost was approximately $40,000.

Question: How does zillow take  this information and increase the value of its  estimate when we list the home for sale on Zillow.

Your house sounds very nice. I am sure that they are projects that would be appreciated by a buyer when you go to sell and you can enjoy them in the meantime too, but honestly Zillow is limited in their estimates.

The problem is that Zillow cannot see any of your remodeling unless it it reflected in a number like a higher assessment or a higher sales price. All they have is numbers. You can update your home facts to reflect any square footage that you added. That can help make your Zestimate more accurate.

Zillow used to have a feature called the owner's estimate where you could show added value on your home page for additions/remodels, but it is bring reworked from what I read and is supposed to be back in the site in April. Until then, you can add a Zestimate comment to tell people looking at your home page about the remodels not included. As the owner, you have to do what you can to make your home page accurate so that people looking can see beyond Zillow's one number and see all the work that you have put in that Zillow cannot see.
