sue under specific performance?

Home sale, buyers put $1900 earnest $ down.House inspected,All work  completed per buyer & contract, cost $2800,appraisal completed home appraised $1500 over sale price, buyers had mortgage approval Everything completed We found  house, put contract on it using contingency contract. All in place after 6 wks, 4 business days to closing.THAN Buyer's called  agent 10 minutes after receiving appraisal saying " decided not to buy house, they didn't like area. We just sunk!  we put deposits down, rented storage, worked hours packing.BESIDES keeping buyers earnest money can we sue under specific performance due to $1900 doesn't cover cost we're out, plus we missed prime real estate time. We are retirement age & cannot afford this extra money. We use retirement money for repairs, storage, moving supplies, not to mention all the extremely hard work getting it all packed We're in tears.  Lost, money, time,&work. Poor lady who owns home we intended to buy. I feel so bad for her asked for her phone # wanted to call, tell her I was sorry this happened. She is 85 yrs old, lost her hubby last yr.She should be able to sue our buyers This was irresponsible, unkind,  downright wrong what buyers did just to leave this mess behind,no remorse, no recourse IS wrong. Thanks for any information I can get. Sincerely JD

You should have a word with a real estate attorney asap.  Good luck!

You need to have a consultation with an attorney who handles residential real estate matters.  A suit for Specific Performance can be expensive.

I personally, was in a similar situation last year with a long time friend buying our property (they hadn't even put up earnest). We made it be known that we were looking into taking them to court, and they apparently also looked at how much they had already spent  and went through with the purchase.

You need to get a good real estate attorney.  It sounds like you may have a case!  How awful for you!
