This is very much a taste issue - the interior is done in Spanish Style - heavy dark wood, BIG chandeliers, vintage lighting, etc. The carpeting, while in relatively good condition, is not new; this is also true of the paint. If it's a look you like, then no changes need to be made. If you prefer something more modern, then you may be looking at some cosmetic upgrades.

Hi, Dinayinyang:

The roof COULD be used for lounging - it's a flat tar and gravel roof. You might even be able to install some outdoor decking to make it more functional. The structural support is probably sufficient to do what you're thinking (and what a great idea!), but just to be on the safe side I'd have a roofing and/or structural expert take a look at it as part of your home-buying assessment process.
