how is it possible that 3 months ago my house according to this site estimated at 550,000 and in a matter of those 3 months my house has depreciated to 405,000 ! i know the housing market isnt doing so well but come on get real here ! investing in a home is supposed to be a safe investment at this rate it looks like buying a home is 10 times worse than buying an american car! f$%#@^& GOVERNMENT in this has let us down ! thanks for ruining our economy BUSH may you rot in hell!

Zillow changed their algorithm in the last few month. If you look values can vary in NJ as much as 20%. As the algorithm gets better values will be closer but never exact IMHO. Zillow is a good starting point but don't take the Zestimate as gospel.

As for BrokerSteveNJ your opinion here border on violating fair housing and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Zillow seems to work GENERALLY SPEAKING over time. Generally speaking doesn't count for INDIVIDUAL buyers/sellers. They, rightfully so, expect Zillow to represent their best interests, individually. It's imperfect, but it's NOT ANYONE'S fault - especially Bush - who has NO OPINION.

You're right there are economically depressed areas almost everywhere, but few people have the GSP 100ft from their bedroom window. I hope you have comfortable earplugs.

its always something and never the government!right! forest hill section of newark is surrounded by the slums and property value is more than in bloomfield home values are going down but property taxes have almost doubled in only 5 years what sense does that make?but i guess because the slums are 5 minutes away! that would mean that even the presence of minorities just driving thru is bringing the value down! gimme a break! the house was appraised by a bank 10 months ago and it was 505000 so in that period it went to less than what i paid for it i dont think so! but what the heck well blame the crack heads in the slums for this country going into a depression soon. not the government and this stupid war their spending all our money on! but what ever you believe is fine buddy! maybe ill move south jersey or somewhere where there arent any slums! lol theyre slums everywhere you can run but you cant hide theres a ghetto with in 15 minutes from you !if not then a trailor park its all the same!

Instead of blaming the President you should blame yourself for buying a house 5 minutes from the slums of Newark. The $550,000 price was definately incorrect. The real value is much closer to the current $405,000, probably around $429,000. Stop blaming the government for your bad decisions.
