Definitely enlist the aid of a title company. If anything comes up of concern you can have an attorney review the title report, but as others mentioned there is a reason for title insurance.

Some localities have limited online access to such data you can look up yourself. In MD there is a website you can use, www.mdlandrec.net. All the data is basically public knowledge. Its complicated to piece together though, and you basically need to know the owner's names in order to search. The best advice is what others have suggested which is contact a local title company.

Contact a title company, they can do it for you.

Yet? It will NEVER happen.
The lowest common social denominator is the law and, in this case privacy laws will prevent it.
Even title companies and attorneys don't ever guarantee their research which is why the property exchange system in the US is based on title insurance. Like it on not, the system is the best in the world and everyone is moving towards it. It is one of the primary reasons why US real estate appeals to foreign buyers.

You can't get a realistic real estate valuation on Zillow, and you can't get a title search either.

I doubt we will ever see such comprehensive, legal information on Zillow. It's not what Zillow does nor should they. I agree with Spirit. Contact a local title agency. I personally use Stewart Title whenever possible. You can find the Pima County Assessor's website by Googling Pima County Assessor. On the right-hand side of the page you can enter the parcel information and get a quick look at what they have on their records. This information should NOT be used as proof of clear title by anyone. Again, get it done right by using a title company. Hope this helps!

No. I can also recommend talking to a local Title Company, since they will need to be involved at some point regards here in Arizona. Some information is also avaialble on Pima County Assessors Office, would add the link but Zillow gets funny if you try and copy & paste in forums.

No, an attorney can do a title search or a title company can. Please pay the money and get it done professionally. You may miss something.
title search on land, or house
