I would try craigslist or you might also try the local forums on either your hometown newspaper or a site like with ultra local forums city-data here. Each zip code has it's own and someone from the local area might remember your Mr. Whimpy or have more information about him or the location.

thank you but i was just a little girl almost 40 years ago. i can remember exactly what the area looked like and i remember that it was listed as rt.4 but i don't remember any street names.

Depending upon your area you may be able to search the real estate assessment for a property if it is currently owned by Mr. Whimpy. If you are familiar with the area you could try to pull up the street on mapping sites and narrow down the address- then look it up under real estate assesment data to find current owner.

You might also try posting this on craigslist. If someone ion the local area remembers the house, they will send you an email. Just make sure to use a web based email to cut down on the spam you may also get mixed with the replies.
