Thanks for sharing. I am just new at Twitter and was wondering if it will be a good idea to link each post with Twitter as one may not want to show each post there.
I wonder if there is way to sync posts only when you want?
Thanks,
Waseem.

That is a good idea, thanks for sharing. To answer Waseem's question, I would make sure you only post one out of every 5 to 10 messages on Twitter with a link to your Zillow feed. On Twitter, if you only post business-related messages, you can appear to be too "salesly". But if you balance your posts between business and personal, you'll do great. Remember that the key to Twitter is to interact with people and develop relationships. You can't beat that. When you build strong friendships on Twitter, it will last you a lifetime!

Very good post Carlton. I agree with you completly.
I am involved in many groups that discuss social media marketing, and the first complaint by many with twitter is the agents or professionals who "dump there sales info" for the public to read. No faster way to lose any chance of creating a following on Twitter.
Twitter is a great resource to make connections with people you normally would never get to know. Dont use it to post quote after quote. Personal creates the lasting relationships at the end of the day.

If you have more time or know of a good programmer, you can use the twitter API (Application Programming Interface) which lets you use all the features of twitter and more. There are of those books that show you how to do it at bookstores like Borders and Barnes and Nobles.
I did play with the Twitter API and one thing that I am doing is going to use something called "FeedBurner" that you can just power there and it can post to the other social networking sites like LinkedIn, Twitter, MySpace, and even your own blog sites. Very useful. and something that I am trying to get up and running since I just got my license.

Bryan, that is an excellent point. I see SO many RE professionals spamming the Twitter stream like madmen, and I just sit and wonder if they really think this will produce any result aside from annoying people in the Twitter community. Showing that you actually care for those in the community is paramount. If you cared for others, you would BRING value to the community before immediately trying to TAKE OUT value. In other words, teach people, share good information, and GIVE more than you spam your listings. Over time, it will pay off.

Being a technologist for 15 years, I have avoided social networking until 2 years ago when I signed up with LinkedIn, and just last week signed up with Twitter. Probably because I was very busy and also I seen a lot of time-consuming unnecessary messages.
I have Twitter linked up to my LinkedIn account where I could use my Blackberry to updated Twitter and only updated LinkedIn if i add the "in" word. I haven't check Zillow, but hope they would have something like that. I do know that Zillow have some API that might be able to do that.

Thanks for Sharing, I am also not sure if that is the best way to use Twitter
I would be careful as to how many posts we allow to go on twitter. Do our friends and family really want to see us answer a bunch of questions, or see that we uploaded photos for our listing 20 times a day?

I'm sure that people that set up such social networking accounts create separate ones for different professional and personal uses.
As for that "friends" and/or "followers" "for life"; I doubt it. But since I'm not into that media; what would I know?
And really, I have thought of absolutely NO reason to "follow" anyone; nor even to read specific blog pages daily. Especially no reason to "follow" a "loan officer" or "real estate agent"...
What could they possibly tell you after you made the transaction you were interested in? A short term "business relationship" is not a normal "friendship".
I could see some people "following" certain financial advisers that gave them tips they liked. I could see some people "following" certain politicians they regularly try to influence. I could see some people following certain "radio shows" they regularly listen to.
But for normal marketing purposes, I think it is over hyped.
But I guess at least you would know that the flyers you produce are not immediately going into the recycle bin without even being read.
No matter how much people think anyone can be a popular columnist; not everyone is a dear-Abby, and I'm convinced most people really don't care.
I did hear that Mozilla (known for FireFox {Netscape}, and Thunderbird) is working on a platform for managing social networking posts to get better integration. They were looking for input for their development concept from potential users. If you want such integration, it may be worth while to give your input on their discussion board.

"When "dear-Abby" needs life coaching" -
The woman most of us knew as "dear Abby" retired, and has Alzheimer's. Her daughter has taken over the column. Still, the column is much more vibrant, vital, important, and entertaining than anything a loan officer or real estate agent would have to say.
Tweet away all you want. Maybe someone will say a little bird told them. But most of us will just ignore all your chirping.

If the feed does not work what do you suggest to validate the feed. Or can I find the feed link in any other place?
For example on Twitter Feed the message I get is:
We couldn't parse this feed, please check the URL and/or fed content are valid
When I go to Feed Validator I get this message:
It looks like this is a web page, not a feed. I looked for a feed associated with this page, but couldn't find one. Please enter the address of your feed to validate.
I copied and pasted the link location as instructed and made sure there was no duplicate items in the address including spaces
Anyone else have trouble validating the feed?
