under valuing my house

Profile picture for brutis2
Why is Zillow suddenly under valuing my home and cutting my sq footage, I bought the hose with 2288 sq footage finished now it shows 1144 and the value is only 157 because of this huge mistake. Thanks for your time   Charles

I agree check with your local public records/auditors office to see how they have the sq footage listed. If it is there you will need to have it corrected there and if listed with a agent have the agent then change the listing to the correct sq footage.

While others may search here and place a value on your home a qualified REALTOR will know the real value of your home based on his or her research of your neighborhood

Owners can claim their house and edit their home facts immediately. Go to your main home page and use the yellow "Edit" pencil under the main house photo to claim your house and then you will be able to "edit the facts" with a link in that same menu on your home page.

The change is immediate, but it can take a little longer up to 6-8 weeks for those home facts changes to affect your Zestimate if it's going to. Hope it helps.

Check public records. The error may have been there. If the addition was not properly permitted, the new square footage will not show in public records, which in turn will make zillow wrong.

Why do you care what the zestimate is showing anyway. Realtors don't use zillow to determine the value, but rather do it themselves using MLS data, which is more accurate, because it gives the insight to the condition of the property sold.
