Zillow gets the square foot information from county records, so if it is not correct there are two things to do:
a. Claim your home (as you've already done) and use "edit" under which you'll find "edit home facts" to update the information.
b. Go to the county assessor's office and make sure home facts are correct (and yes, this may affect your tax basis).
Zestimates are calculated from a statistical model with input with comparable sales in your area. It will vary from week to week. $1000 drop in a week is minor fluctuation. perhaps next week it will be up, or perhaps the neighborhood general pattern is dropping.
If you change facts on your home which may affect the Zestimate, if will be several weeks until reflected in the Zestimate - perhaps six to eight or there abouts.

If you can clarify where you are getting your info from that would help with the answer to your question. For example are you getting the info from the city hall website or zillow. Please let me know

HI, I LIVE AT 19 KEATS ROAD, SO. MERIDEN,CT 06451. THE INFORMATION U HAVE ON MY HOME IS NOT RIGHT....I HAVE 2000sq ft OF LIVEABLE SPACE THE HOUSE THAT IS ACROSS FROM ME HAVE A VALUE OF 254,000. WITH LESS SPACE THAN I HAVE AND ALSO HAVE SEVERAL NEW UPDATES. FROM LAST WEEK WHEN I HAD LOOKED UP OUR VALUE...IT WAS 207.000. TODAYS EMAIL SAID IT HAD DROPPED 1,000. HOW COME THAT MUCH WITHIN A WEEK
