There are some good answers here, but don't forget some of us serve Central Ohio and only charge a flat fee. In the Columbus area 6% is very popular, where the listing brokerage keeps 3% and offers 3% to the brokerage/agent who brings the buyer.
Many sellers aren't aware of the great variety of home sale options, especially the flat fee options that can cost less $500 and still involve listing on the Realtors MLS, Zillow, Realtor.com, Trulia, etc.
Good luck in your home sale.

Dunes is right, it is all negotiable. 95% of the purchase agreements that come across my desk in Ohio are 6% realtor commission. Some realtors will tell you that it is 7% now. If you run into a 7% realtor tell them you heard it was 5%, and "how about we meet in the middle".
Hope this helps

The Commission is Factored in to the Sales Price...the Entire Commission
I bought and sold my First property in 1968 and that's how it was done then and has been done ever since..The Free to you is just Sales BS so you will respond to their "Call Me"
and Agents wonder about the Lack of Respect they get...Go Figure
Commissions are Negotiable...Please check out this Information from the Department of Justice about Commissions and Options you have as a Consumer
Home prices and commissions over time
Competing models of real estate brokerage
Consumers can save thousands of dollars in commissions
"Ten states forbid buyers' brokers from rebating a portion of the sales commission to the consumer. Eight states require consumers to buy more services from sellers' brokers than they may want, with no option to waive the extra items. HUD recently clarified its rule that rebates are permissible under RESPA as long as they are reported on the HUD-1 form." Anticompetitive MLS practices
Good Luck

Honestly, it depends. If you are a buyer than realtors are a free service to you. If you are a seller you would have to sit down with an agent to discuss the variation in fees and services. If you are looking for a buyers agent or a selling agent please feel free to give me a call. I would love to answer all of your questions!!
what are percentage realtor fee?
