Pumpkin or orange and red hues are becoming very popular or you can go with the conservative tans.

Enough with mining 2009 posts. What about the 2011 posters/questions? Don't you think they would appreciate your input while they are still trying to make their decision?

Anything pastels, but stick with the green and yellows to stay away from that "baby look"

I find that a butter cookie color or anything in the sage green family works. Yhe butter cookie shades bring cheerfulness and a warm cozy feeling. The sages bring a calm feeling also. Just don't go too extreme! Geat success!

I love a soft butter cream with dark wood - it really accents and draws attention to the wood.
Here is a before photo of a home we provided a consultation for -
and the after. While the first photo that was on the MLS was too dark, the new paint really shows off the wood as you can see. This past week we were on a job where we were painting the white walls with a light mocha color -- the owners were amazed at how much the wood work popped out with more color in the walls. A light sage color would have the same effect.
The real key to success in choosing paint colors is NOT the tiny color strips, but get a larger sample. We have 8"x11" color sample sheets -- making it MUCH easier to see what the color really is and how it reacts with the light and features in the room.

That pottery barn golden buff type color is very pretty with dark wood. It looks like a faded parchment color, but is not "dirty". Almost like soft faded wheat in the summer sun.

what colours would work well with the woodwork in my home to keep it light and bright and airy
