Th recently sold price on Zillow comes from the local recorders office. It is usually the amount of the sale itself except in cases of foreclosure where it can be the amount that the bank bought the house back for (mortgage+HELOC). You can also call a local realtor to ask for the sold price off of the MLS by address. They have that information available also if you want to double check it.
