I am not sure I know the context of your question.  Are you referring to "a negative mean" in statistics.

the "mean" is the average of a set of numbers.  If some of those numbers are negative, the mean can be a negative.  A mean is determined by adding all the numbers and dividing by the number of the numbers.  Say you add seven numbers together and divide by 7 you have the "mean" or average.  If you add positive numbers and negative numbers, the result can be a negative number.  Divide that negative number by 7 and you have a "negative mean".

If you are calculating the average of the returns on some recent real estate investments the average could be negative and therfore be a "negative mean"
