it's not actually advertised completely for sale...it is a way for a person to put in their house and say...if someone came along and were willing to pay this price for my house...I'd think about moving.
it's for the person causually considering a sale. I have a make me move price on my house, it's above what I would list it for when I decide I actually want a good sale but I have a unique property that is hard to find and if someone were willing to pay that price- I'd speed up my move. It's just a little too high...it could be valued at that price but is not the priced I'd reccommend for marketing.
some people take the approach that everything is always for sale if you want to pay the right price but if you don't they'll stick with it until they really want a sale. make me move, covers those people well. it's also a way for someone with a fsbo to get free advertising but it will also result in many agents contacting you to offer to list your home.
