In my area, this is a number obtained from the county assessor's office. It ranges from 1 to 13, with 7 being "average".

Construction quality varies greatly from area to area and it not used by lenders in appraisals, and will vary between counties. Its unreliable, and I would ignore it.

I would ignore most information on Zillow. They don't have a single staff person in any local market to know what 'construction quality" would mean.

David: Is there a reason that you are so passionately anti-Zillow?
So far all we know is that you don't think much of Zillow. If I were looking for an agent, I'd want to know more than that. Negatives alone would make you fall of my list of potential agents immediately.

New appraisal guidlines will require the appraiser to state the quality of construction. This could be a big issue in 2012

what is zillows construction quality rating
