As an agent in a very strong VA market I can tell you most lenders here in Middle TN want VA buyers to have a 620 middle score. However there are some banks and lenders that will do 600. Best bet is to talk to a lender and see if a rapid rescore is available. Many times you can get 20,30, or 40 points in a short period by doing what your loan officer suggests.

Good morning,

Most Lenders require a minimum of 640 credit score today, although there are Lenders who will work with lower scores.

Thank you for your service to our nation!

640 but debt to income ratio has to be in line as well.

I recently assisted a buyer who ended up with a mid 650's credit score and had no issues getting approval for a VA Loan upwards of $250,000

This answer to this question is not entirely definite because minimum credit scores can vary from lender to lender. But the average minimum for a VA loan for most lenders would be around 620. This is the average, so if you shop around you will probably find lenders who's minimum are higher and some that are lower.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions or if you need a loan, feel free to contact me with the information on my profile page. Also, if you found this review helpful, please leave a review on my profile page if you can!

Good Luck!
