You can find the registered square footage here. The actual square footage of the house may or may not be the same especially if there were unpermitted additions added.

If you go to the website of the Alameda County Tax Assessor's office, it will give you what they have on the records as the size of the property.

However, if you or the previous owners have renovated and expanded the property, but the increase in square footage wasn't submitted to update the county records, what you find on the county records will be incorrect. This happens so frequently.

When you bought your home, did you have an appraisal done? You can use the appraiser's report and submit that with your application to correct the public records. The county will send their own inspector to measure and confirm the size before they make the corrections.

You can ask your local assessor' soffice or on Zillow you can go here enter the address in the Find Homes box and hit the blue GO button. If Zillow has information for the house, a map will come up for the area.

Click on the address box to get to the home page. Then look at the "More Facts" link to see the public information for the house to see if the public square footage is listed.
