Are you providing any proof you are in a fight over the credit reporting??

To the sleeping in the car issue, have you tried extended stay suites or other corporate housing?. They often do 1,2,4,and 6 months leases. and they take advance payments and sometimes credit cards.

A private landlord is easier to convince than a rental agency.  Of course, the landlord is concerned about receiving rent monthly on time, every month.   Establishing a reserve account to cover perhaps 3 months rent, but otherwise untouchable can be very helpful (in addition to other normal security deposits etc.
