why are there listing for only a $1000 or so, r u taking over a payment or is that the cost

Seeing listing all over for only a couple of grand. What is the deal on those? are you just taking payments over? or is that the actual cost? If so I'm a first time buyer and not sure what direction to go?

Our MLS does have rental homes and duplexes.  Any time you see a price of $600-$2500 it's likely a rental home.

There are such great opportunities today for a first time home buyer - getting into a purchase now, with low rates and zero down loan programs available, if credit is decent, buying is cheaper than renting up front and long term.

These are probably rentals. If you are searching through zillow or any other real estate search site, make sure you enter a minimum amount that you want to pay. If you leave that open ended, you'll see rentals too.

Best of luck on your home search!

Usually properties with unrealistic asking prices are actually rentals that have somehow been misentered.   You can learn more about these properties by clicking on the listing source at the very bottom of the property details page.

Where are you seeing these?  On your local MLS?
